There are quite a few waterfall locations near Hyderabad which would serve to be an ideal destination for a fun weekend getaway with family and friends. It would not take more than 3 to 4 hours for the tourists to explore the area and enjoy in the waterfall and therefore can be a perfect place for a one day outing to relax and have fun.
Kuntala Falls

Kuntala Falls is located in Kuntala in the Adilabad district of Telangana. It is located on Kadum River in the middle of the Sahyadri mountain range. It is the highest waterfall of Telangana with a height of 45 meters. There is a local belief that the Kuntala Falls got its name after Shakuntala and it is also believed that Shakuntala used to take bath in this waterfall. This beautiful waterfall is famous for one day outing and is a lovely place for a weekend getaway from the city of Hyderabad. One can reach the entry point of the falls by a vehicle and the fall is about 10 minutes’ walk from there. The nearest airport is at Hyderabad and the nearest railway station is at Adilabad.

Pochera Falls

Pochera Falls is a pretty waterfall located in the Kadam River. It is a very big, wide and deep waterfall. It is located at a distance of 10 km from the Neredikonda village between Nirmal and Adilabad. The water flows through rocky bed over several steps to finally descend into the big pool from a height of about 40 feet in 2 steps. Pochera falls is one and only of its kind in Telangana and is rarely found in India. These falls are so wide and deep that it is advisable to be careful as one approach. These falls are generally visited along with the Kuntala Falls and are at a distance of 22 km from there. These falls are unique and are a beautiful place for a weekend getaway with family and friends.

Ethipothala Falls

Ethipothala Falls is situated at the Guntur district of Andra Pradesh. It is located on the Chandravankar River, which is a tributary of Krishna River. This is a famous waterfall formed by the mountain streams which falls from a height of about 70 feet into a lagoon. It is one of the best tourist attractions to visit near Hyderabad and a popular waterfall around Hyderabad city. There is a crocodile breeding center in the pond formed by the waterfall and is managed by the Forest Department of Andhra Pradesh where one see crocodile from a distance. This is an ideal destination for a weekend getaway to enjoy with family and friends.

Gayathri Falls

Gayathri Falls is a beautiful place located in Adilabad distrct of Telangana. This is a less known place situated on Kadam River, a tributary of Godavri River. It is a very secluded place located inside deep forest near Tarman Khurd village. This waterfall is also called Mukti Gudam by the villagers. It is a stunning waterfall at a height of 100 feet and also has a pool where the visitors can swim but it is important to be cautious while swimming as the rocks in the pool are sharp and slippery. It would take 3 to 4 hours to explore this place and is a perfect place to spend a day with family and to have fun.

Kanakai Falls

Kanakai Falls is a nice waterfall on the Kadam river located at the Adilabad District of Telangana. The waterfall is at a height of 30 feet. There is also a Kanaka Durga temple near the waterfall where a large number of devotees come from the nearby village to visit this temple during festivals. There is a big pool at the bottom of the falls where the visitors can swim and have a nice experience. There are three falls at Kanakai and it would take about 3 to 4 hours for the visitors to explore this place. It is also a trekking place for those who are interested in trekking. This is an ideal destination for one day trip and can be easily visited during weekends. However, one would not find much water in season other than monsoon.

Sahastrakund Waterfalls

This is a magnificent waterfall located at the Nanad district of Andhra Pradesh. Sahastrakund waterfalls are on the Penganga River which is a tributary of Godavari. The water drops from a height of 50 feet to form the breathtaking waterfalls. There are two temples on both sides of the river which can be visited by the tourists. This is an amazing tourist spot and would not take more than one day to explore the beauty of this place.

Mallela Theertham

Mallela Theertham is a beautiful waterfall located at a distance of 173 km from Hyderabad, in the dense Nallamala Forest. In this falls the water drops from a height of 150 feet and falls directly from a high cliff on a Shiv Lingas kind of rock formation. It is believed that many tigers visit this place during summers to drink water. Mallela Theertham is quite close to Hyderabad and therefore is an ideal location for a weekend getaway with friends and family.

Bheemuni Paadam Waterfalls is one of the best tourist locations to visit in Warangal district of Talengana. Here, the water falls from a hillock from about 70 feet in a semi-circular enclosure. There is a cave beside the falls which is 10 km long and can be visited. There are also several lakes near the falls which can also be visited. It is quite a lonely and serene place and is an ideal destination to hangout for a day with family and friends.
